About A Safe Place For Meow

A Safe Place For Meow Inc is a 100% volunteer-run cat rescue organisation based in Palmerston, Northern Territory, supporting cats and their community across Darwin, Palmerston, and surrounding NT areas since 2019.

The organisation takes cats into care, arranges vet checks, desexing, vaccinations, microchipping, and parasite treatment, and places them with foster carers where they can experience safe, home-based care before finding their forever family.

Rather than operating from a traditional shelter, A Safe Place For Meow runs entirely on a foster-based model. Cats live in real homes with dedicated carers, receiving individual attention, proper socialisation, and everyday love that helps them thrive and prepares them for adoption.

Their work covers rescue, rehabilitation, rehoming, education, and ongoing community support across the greater Darwin region. Everything they do is driven by one simple belief: every cat deserves care, safety, and a second chance.

It is steady, ongoing work. And it makes a real difference.

What was needed

A Safe Place for Meow, as an organisation, needed more than just a website.

They needed something that could support their day-to-day rescue work, while making it easier for the community to adopt, foster, and get involved.

As a volunteer-run team, time and resources are limited, so the focus was on reducing workload, making information clearer, and creating a more structured way for people to connect.

What we Built

The website was designed to act as both a public platform and a practical support system.

  • Clear navigation across adoption, foster, and contact pathways
  • Custom enquiry forms to organise and streamline communication
  • Integration with PetRescue for live adoption listings
  • Structured content adapted from internal documentation
  • Social media integration to support community engagement
  • Charity verification links to build trust and transparency

Everything was designed to be easy to manage, easy to use, and able to grow over time.

Designed for real-world use

The site was built to feel clear and easy to use across mobile, tablet, and desktop.

This was especially important, as many users access the site on the go, whether they’re browsing available cats or submitting enquiries.

What this means

The website now acts as a central hub for both the community and the rescue team.

Enquiries are more organised, processes are clearer, and the team spends less time on repetitive admin tasks.

For the public, it’s now easier to view available cats, understand the process, and take the next step, whether that’s adopting, fostering, or supporting the organisation.

A website built for the mission, not just the organisation.

For a 100% volunteer-run organisation like A Safe Place For Meow, every part of the website needs to work just as hard as the volunteers do.

This site was designed around the people who use it most. Potential adopters looking for their next family member. Foster carers wanting to get involved. Supporters looking for a way to help. And a small, dedicated volunteer team who needed something they could manage, grow, and rely on over time.

The design follows the mission. Clear navigation, warm storytelling, practical information, and a structure that makes it easy for anyone to take the next step, whether that is adopting, fostering, donating, or simply learning more about the work being done every day across Darwin and Palmerston.

Because when the website works properly, more cats get the second chance they deserve.

Part of something bigger

This project is part of an ongoing and deeply personal collaboration between Misha's Creative Studio and A Safe Place For Meow Inc.

Michelle volunteers her time to support the organisation because this is where the story of Misha's Creative Studio began. Early design work, early Canva graphics, early website support, it all started here, with a small rescue organisation doing big things for cats in need across the Northern Territory. That connection has never stopped.

The website is an ongoing build, growing and evolving as the organisation grows. It is not a finished project handed over and walked away from. It is a living collaboration between a designer who cares deeply about the mission and an organisation that deserves to be seen and supported.

On the technical side, App Forge provides the hosting foundation, with Australian-based hosting that is reliable, secure, and practical for volunteer-run not-for-profits. Misha's Creative Studio focuses on the design, content structure, and user experience, making sure everything on the site feels clear, warm, and easy for the community to use.

Together, the goal is simple. Help A Safe Place For Meow grow its reach, strengthen its systems, and connect with more people across Darwin, Palmerston, and surrounding NT communities.

Because this was never just about building a website.

It is about helping more cats find safe, loving homes, and supporting the people who make that possible.

Start with what matters

Every business starts with a reason.

Maybe it began with something you love, something you noticed, something you wanted to change, or a way you knew you could help.

That story matters, because it shapes how your business should feel, what your customers need to understand, and how your website should support you.

You don’t need to have the perfect words yet. Just tell me where you’re at, what you’re working on, or what feels unclear.

We can build from there.
